Carissimo futuro collega,

Does not work on XP Pro SP3??
When launches it detects no profiles.
System has profiles/data in all of the following: IE8/Favorites, Firefox 3, Outlook Express & Windows Address Book.
Note that system *used* to be joined to a domain and was recently removed, with the domain user account (locally) kept in use by modifying HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\ProfileList\ProfilePath to the right location in Documents and Settings. This shouldn’t affect your program but it’s all I can think of that *might* …

Many thanks for your report.
I will investigate this bug.

It would be a sweet piece of software, but xp is old and dead, you should do a win 7 compatible version
September 5th, 2009 at 10:22 PM
Thanks! MailBrowserBackup is XP Compatible but it runs very well on Windows Vista and Windows 7 also.

Firstly thank you for this great little program very useful.
it works well with Opera 10 there is the dictionary back to English by default instead of remaining with the dictionary before selecting default
thank you again to continue the development

Useful utility.
May I suggest that it saves the default backup/restore folder as this will make it easier for a computer illiterate to use.

Grazie per aver aggiunto il supporto a Notepad++
A presto
September 7th, 2009 at 6:58 PM
Hello,
Nice app!
Any chance on adding support for Postbox?
See: http://postbox-inc.com/

Hi,
Thank you for this program. I have a few remarks/questions:
1. A setup of a default backup/restore folder would be nice.
2. Localisation (multilingual interface) would be nice to. If you like I could make a Dutch translation for you.
3. I read in the Readme file that you have plans for a scheduled backup. That would really help. Any idea when?
4. Besides Opera 10 I have IE 8 installed on my computer. But somehow the program does not find it. How come?
Best regards,
Piet

Very good utility! However, it won’t work for me…
The reason is, my day-to-day user login is a non-admin, and the utility insists on running as administrator (Vista/W7).
I suspect it’s only a wrong parameter in the manifest file, but it would be nice if you’d correct that small matter. Otherwise, as already mentioned, a default backup folder would be a good feature (possibly a subfolder of “My Documents”?), as would remembering the last used backup folder from one use to the next.
Keep up the good work

Thanks for the update but I can’t get it to work. It will not start, only resides a couple of seconds in memory/taskmanager and then shuts down with no window shown, no message-box or error showing in eventvwr. I’m running it on WinXP SP 3 with admin-rights.
Version 0.1 worked flawlessly.

Nice tool.
- I think it’s a bug: The Version 0.2 doesn’t found the IE8 Favourites. I have many, but the MBB doesn’t show a backup option for IE8.
- MBB show me the backup option for Safari, I don’t have installed Safari.
- As a feature a language interface would be nice.
I use Windows XP Home SP3.
September 13th, 2009 at 1:16 AM
Many thanks for your report. I know about the bug on Safari. I just fixed it in 0.5 version, that I’m developing.
Next version will have multi-language interface (for now only italian and english) and backup scheduler (for now only for Windows Vista and Windows 7).
Regards,
Alessandro.

If you offer a text file with all language strings, somebody can translate it in there language an you can put the languages in.
September 14th, 2009 at 4:17 PM
I will do this very soon. MailBrowserBackup v0.5 is not yet complete.
September 14th, 2009 at 4:23 PM
Thanks for your advice! I’m developing the new version and I added the possibility to set a default backup folder.
MailBrowserBackup is designed to run with super-user account (UAC on Vista/7), but if it will be possibile, I will fix this “problem”.
Many thanks,
regards,
Alessandro.

I’m developing the new version.

4) To do. I will fix it.
Many thanks,

Alessandro.

Withaut that and maybe other errors, prog have potencial and nice concept…
September 14th, 2009 at 9:02 PM
This is not a bug. It’s normal that it restore on wrong place if you are logged in with a different user account.
However I will change this, so thank you for your report.
I will check for Notepad++.

Alessandro.

I Use Win7 and Office 2007. If I want to Backup Outlook I get the message: “Outlook2003-2007 is running. Please, close it and then press OK to continue”.
But I’ve already closed my Outlook and I can’t find a process within Outlook!
Any idea!?
Thanks and regards

I have IE 8.0, Firefox and Chrome but it fails to detect I’m also using Opera 10.
September 24th, 2009 at 3:53 AM
I forgot to mention I’m using Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit…
could this have some bearing on it’s failure to detect Opera?
September 24th, 2009 at 9:45 AM
Ho fatto il backup di windows live mail e poi ho provato a fare il restore. Sono usciti 2 messaggi di errore. Ho i jpg, se vuoi te li posso mandare. Ciao e complimenti!
September 28th, 2009 at 12:24 AM
Nice program. I’ve found it works fine with Windows Live Mail in Vista, however I have a similar problem to that described by Ank; namely, when I try to backup Thunderbird the program says that it cannot backup until I close Thunderbird -problem is, you’ve guessed it, Thunderbird isn’t running. This is obviously a bug in Mailbrowserbackup that need looking at.
Good effort so far though!

Hi to you :
I would like to suggest you one extention for your great sotfware MBB.
Is it possible to implement in, one feature like a possibility to view the backup containt, just following the backup process ?
perhapse by selecting one of the backup file, through a fileselect windows wich is pointing on the backup folder?
I thing that’s will a very appreciated function.
Once again, thank for your very nice job.
Sorry for my english more “american” than “old english”.

Thank you so much for your advice! I will consider it!
Greetings from Italy!

Hello Alessandro,
When the new version released ?
October 15th, 2009 at 8:05 PM
Hello.
What does this utility backup from Outlook Express? Email/Folders/Profiles/Settings? THX
October 16th, 2009 at 2:31 PM
Looks like it has great potential, but I’m curious if this will also save the outlook accounts settings. A simple copy and paste will backup my .pst file, but all to often, I am recreating all of my account settings.

Not a bug, but can you add backing up and restoring “Message Rules” in Windows Live Mail as well as accounts. Otherwise this software is simple to use and works great so far.
Thanks,

Thank you very much for this great tool! I have one little problem: In “mail client profiles found” your tool shows “outlook 2003-2007″ – i have no outlook installed. Is there any way to hide this outlook-profile?
